How To Edit

Author File Description
File Details
Used with: Stronghold 2
Like the in game Map, but to hard? want to make it Free Build, ETC. ETC.? Then use Free Hex editor and make the changes You want save them and play! once you strip the file and save it, you will only have 1 shot at editing it. When you save it, Mapmaker will make it uneditable! (Unless you do the stip thing again) So back up your stripped files before you edit and save! Also if you mess up a map it will cause your game to crash, if it does delete the map! and rerun the game. I have incuded screen shots of the editor, and what to do! Have fun!

Lopat What is this download about?

I dont get it, please explain..

When I download a map, I just unzip it to my maps folder under stronghold2 AND if I want te edit it I copy a copy (i.e. mapname_copy.s2m) to the folder in document & settings...

If you want to edit Game Maps like chapter11 etc. they are coded to not show up in map edit.
If you copy the map to your stronghold2 folder in doc's&settings, you can strip it, rename it and make changes you like. See my maps posted here, and you can see what you can do. The pictures show which bytes to cut out, and then edit, so you can save them to edit them.
warmapsubmitter So basically, what he is trying to say is...
The map files that you are not allowed to edit (original map files) you can put in this program, strip em and then use the map as you would a regular custom map. But im sure its not that easy ;)

I put together an HTML file and pictures with detailed instructions on how to edit Game Maps!
It will be up soon. Watch for How to Edit 2!
It has 2 maps (small) you can look at to see the diference between them. it steps through how to strip and edit the in Game Maps so you can mod them to your needs. Also be aware any Maps you make are the property of Firefly as per the lisence agreement. So if you upload any they own them and the rights to them.
All in All though, I like this game alot, and am working on new maps always. I play them several times to make sure everything works well.As always Have fun and enjoy.
Hex Editor uploaded seperate. Also look for MWSnap! or get them from these sites.

Lots of Downloads, no feedback here either. If You liked it let Us know, if We need to make it better let Us know. If it's bad let Us know how to make it better!
Napolian im pretty sure you could just save the mission in-game, then go to map editor and load the saved vile and make your changes.
this is also cool because you can make walls in map editor, then make you the attacker. then half blow up the walls and save it.
in map editor the walls will be crumbled so you could make a crumbeling fortress in map edior, then I think you could do it in the path of peace/war.
Ximene_Xuxa I'm new to the game and the forum, and I came here specifically for this. I cant seem to be able to get this to work, and my game keeps crashing every time I try to load a stripped map. I even went back to double check and make sure that I was following the steps exactly. Any advice?
Tranquil Additional Comments:I have figured how to change it. Just open campaign map and open any of your maps and copy text from it to text word version and paste this text to any campaign map same to word version, and then this map will apear in the game map editor.
Also you can create your own sieges at this way. I have uploaded my siege map on this site.
