Exploits of MS (Matthew Steele) the Bounty Hunter Chapter 1 -Perils of North Umbria- By: Lord Marius
***********************************************
Diary Entry Nov. 1083,
For the past three months, the fugitive Sir William has eluded my grasp. With great effort and several interventions of fortune, I have managed to track him to his base of operations in Northumbria on the fringes of Viking Country held by the crazed Olaf Grimtooth. Pascal Deveraux and Angus McLeod, known by locals as the Hawk and the Bull respectively, have agreed to supply troops for cooperation in various trade agreements. I can only hope that their word bears truthful. The mission will not be easy; made even more difficult by the fact that I find myself fighting a war on two fronts with William on one side and the entire Viking clans on the other. May god be with us…
***********************************************
I admit, the scripting from my first map made it a kill-em-all scenario, but I have tried to incorporate new events in with a new story to make for a much better gaming experience this time around. If you have the time, please download and review "A Troubled Country", and expect to see more maps following the trend of MS the Bounty Hunter soon. Cheers -Lord Marius

You certainly keep us busy handling events or building, etc.! Very challenging and I had to restart the map several times. After playing it for about six hours last night, I still haven't gotten to the final invasion.
Balance: 5
I'm giving a 5 because it seems beatable, albeit a bit difficult. I'm not a fan of fighting swordsman with archers/spearmen, but balance seemed good.
Creativity: 5
The combination of events, invasions, estates, etc., was fantastic.
Map Design: 5
The map is a thing of beauty and inspires me to make better maps :). Just when I think I've made a nice map, one like this comes around and makes me realize how bland mine are. So thanks for that!
Story/Instructions: 5
Great story that told me everything I need to know.
Additional Comments:
Nicely done sir! It must've been a lot of work, and it was worth it. You made me work hard on this scenario! Some things that confused me early on were the inclusion of hop farms and a brewery with no Inn availabe; and the inclusion of a church but not bees/chandler. These things eventually sorted out but initially they were a point of confusion for me. I personally prefer more freedom in building my castle/economy. But these personal preference issues did not detract much from what is an incredible scenario. Very well done! |

This game mode is well constructed for both the difficult challenge inside castle society and out in the warfare. The map layout is just marvelous as well as the well scripted enemy attacks that keep barraging my town. And the story is also well portrayed in that you managed to notify the player when he/she has completed a certain task as well as a finely constructed beginning to a possibly epic series your carrying out.
Balance: 4
Although this map was wickedly playable, I had found much difficulty trying to obtain a good army while trying to keep my villagers happy (and somehow they were at 44 and I don't even know why) while Olaf held a massive siege while I was still attempting to gather some stone to provide some sturdy walls.
Creativity: 5
Obviously, you clearly outdone yourself with the storyline, the map, just about everything. Well done!
Map Design: 5
And once again, the map design is just glorious, realistic territory borderlines, great detail towards animals and ferns and just about anything!
Story/Instructions: 5
You really did your homework well when you constructed such an even storyline along with other side affects (such as the boat wreckage near my fort where my men were stationed at, although you could have made the castle an optional build off.)
Additional Comments:
I can't wait to see your next installment! |
