Landscape Tools - 7th Icon - Estate Ownership

In Stronghold 2, all land on the map has to be assigned to a territory. The territories are marked by 'painting' them with one of the colors on the estate ownership toolbar. The maps all begin with a default red (to match the default red player), and can then be changed in the map editor.

Territory Colors

There are 16 colors available, meaning that it's possible to have up to 16 different territories. (The numbering on the icons goes to #17, but #11 is missing.)

In the following screenshot, the entire map has been painted with different colors, using the largest brush size. By clicking on the estate preview icon on the left, all of the territories can be seen on the minimap.

Castle/Estate Placement

The top icon (the flag) will place an AI estate. The bottom icon will place a castle.

In free builds: if several castles are placed in a free build map, only the one that is assigned to the red player will show up as a castle, even if the castle icon is used. The others will show up in the game as estates available for purchase.

In kingmaker maps: a mixture of estates and castles can be used. The castles will be available for human or AI players, and the estates will be regular estates, available for purchase with honor.

This screenshot shows one castle flag and two estate flags... and note how they appear the same in the editor.

Event Markers

The final component in this toolbar are the event marker banners. These are used in conjunction with the scenario part of the map editor, and are to mark locations on the map where you want events (such as invasions) to happen. There are four colors available, each numbering up to 8, for a total of 32 events.
