The brave Sir William has died near his estate. Assassins cut him down while he tended his beloved gardens near his church. The King has sent you to rebuild his estate and unite the communities nearby. Your only source of wood threatened by an outlaw encampment makes this an interesting task.
Scouts have indicated that an expeditionary force of Olaf’s men will come your way soon and you’ve little time to prepare. A larger force will come and to your dismay Olaf brings siege equipment and armored men unlike his usual band of fur clothed barbarians. There is more afoot here than the King realizes. This far north there shouldn’t be these kind of forces. You realize that a terrible atrocity has occurred. Sir Grey has betrayed your King and supports Olaf in his raids. Treason!
You must move quickly to prepare your defense. The constant raids disrupt your caravans but you must not fail! This estate hold valuable mines which if taken will go far to supplying the enemy with goods and wares to move further south. You take a deep breath, scan the surrounding villages and give your orders….

Everything worked, except at the end, I could not get the Win screen. I suspect a lone assassin is lurking somewhere, but for the life of me I cant find him, even though I extended gametime by 5 years past the last invasion, and searched everywhere for him. Other than that, the map played very well.
Balance: 4
It was difficult at the beginning to decide which way to go to get your economy up and running, what with lack of space and constant badgering of the ownership of the outlying estates, but once that was achieved, I thought the balance tilted to the Players hand, because of the length of time, even with the last siege invasions. But in all, a fairly balanced and a good challenge of a map.
Creativity: 5
Nice job on just about everything here, to create the challenges needed for this map
Map Design: 5
Good use of textures, shadings, and elevation to create the difficulty level, and economy building
Story/Instructions: 5
The map played out as your story said. I enjoyed this map very much Clubthumper!
Additional Comments:
Even though I could not get the Win screen, I think it was more me than your map. I didnt see anything in the scripting to suggest an error on your part, so that assassin is still out there waiting for me! lol I'll get him one day. |

Additional Comments:
I use this forum for years... first Stronghold and Crusader... now Stronghold 2...
Your map remember Jayhawk's Freki's Fjord or Jayhawk's Carrochcrag (best Stronghold 1 map).
Good job.
