Have you ever wanted to know:
How much do peasants actually eat?
How many farms you actually need to build?
Which food source puts out the most food per worker?
Which food source is the most space efficient?
Is using ale to keep your people happy better than double rations, etc?
This guide goes into great depth just about every aspect of running a castle's economy in stronghold 2. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that even veterans of the series can learn a few things.
I hope someone finds all the testing I did on these subjects to be useful.
Great idea Sir CSL
Always sortta wondered about all that stuff, I mean I got different strats I use and do fair but I have seen alot better.
Peace out

The best things to build are....
you'll have to download this and find out.
But seriously if you skim through the hole text it will improve your skill by 100% if you put it to practice.
Cheers dude. and thanks.

Are you certain that your food calculations are correct?
If the maximum consumption per year is 171, then its only logical that the apple farm that apparently produces 310 units of food per year is enough to support an entire civilization. Or have I missunderstood it?:P
Apparently it was 10 apple orchards. But it still seems like a small amount of them:)
If your calculations are correct and mine are also correct, and I have not missunderstood your concept. 6 orchar farms should be able to produce 192 units of food per year which supports the maximum amount of food consumed per year by any number of peasants. 21 hunters posts will produce 178,5 food units per year. Hmm, well that sounds more accurate:S I have to put it into practice.

bread block idea? genous, now I know how to be VERY effective with bread economy, and my my what a shocker to look at the effectiveness of tax!!! :")
The thing I love most is u show effectiveness of different units, and basically tuaght me the importance that every unit class can have. No wonder advanced armies are like that!?!
I also learned economic tips when on limited space in uneven maps, I have to say I am quite impressed !!!
