Grenz Hill v3.6, by Lord Tanthos
______________________________________________
All storyline is included in the .zip folder, in addition to a summary in the game itself.
_______________________________________________
In this fifth mission, Sir Gareth has been ambushed while meeting with Dietrich and Siegfried about allying against Vlad and Mordred. A small task force lies between them and the church in Grenz Hill, a small village by the two rivers that flow through the valley. At this church, Sir Gareth's wounds may be tended to. But word has come that thousands of troops led by Mordred are on their way to Grenz Hill to wipe them out and they are closing in from all sides!
There is no escape...
It is recommended that you read the story file for the best story and instructions, and to better clarify your objectives and goals. However, a shortened version of the story is given in each map's briefing all the same.
A hint file is included, giving 2-10 hints for each mission in a given scenario. If you find yourself stuck, in need of help, or for want of a starting advantage, feel free to read them.
And lastly, enjoy the map! Thank you for downloading.
Look for Mission 5: The Defense of Illium coming up soon!

SPECIAL NOTE:
This mission is NOT for the fainthearted, and is intended for expert Stronghold players who are looking for a challenge!
This is by far the hardest siege you will ever have played in Stronghold: Legends, as you have very little against a lot, and you must spend every second carefully managing your forces against literally never-ending forces.
You must hold out for long enough for reinforcements from the king of Illithia to come, forcing Mordred to retreat.
It is recommended that you play this mission on Easy if you are not an expert at siege missions. Many hints are included in the .zip file for the final siege, use them well!
This mission is so finely balanced between victory or defeat that you will definitely have some difficulty, and be forced to restart and reload several times to win. This is by far the most work I have ever done balancing the game in any map. You have just enough to win, and little more.
Good luck! |

It is, this mission is balanced perfectly in difficulty!
Make sure that you follow each hint included in the .zip file; and you may want to set the difficulty to easy if you're not an expert defender. |

Don't give them a second of ladder access. If you do that, you lose.
Don't let the ram get to your gatehouse. If you do that, you lose.
Don't forget to line your walls with Oil Tippers.
This map is fully beatable, but you must do everything possible to do so. The marketplace is important! |

Hi, Lord Tanthos
I managed to beat the map in my second attempt without almost no casualtyes at all, I don't even use my reinforcement. The clue, is to put up your castle correct ;)
very fun,and a superb map.
I took a screenshot, but I can't find the upload-link.

Playability: 4.5- I agree with Sir Tarrit,a very hard map,but after the second retry i won with medium losses, less experienced players may find it daunting with the various 'quests' and invasions, but prudent planning pays dividends.definitely one to try and beat with better results!
Balance: 4.5
The balance was just right for me being an experienced gamer(25yrs-lol!)I enjoy a good challenge.
Creativity: 5
Very creative i felt, the swamp was well designed, good attention to detail.the limited starting units may not be enough for some-no plot spoilers from me!
Map Design: 5
Good design, you paid attention to detail with terrain and textures, also the flora and fauna was well balanced, nice to see where you're going .Getting resources, well that was fun, definitely not a sunday stroll-which is good.again no spoilers for those thinking to download.
Story/Instructions: 4.5
As in my review for Sir Tarrits' map a good story, consistent the series, maybe a bit short for some, but as i say a story can be long or short if it informs the reader of what to expect and shows imagination.
Additional Comments:
As always another great map by one the top mappers for Legends, come to think of it there are a few of us-no names mentioned ;)- keep 'em coming! LD[Edited on 05/29/08 @ 06:10 PM]
