Dark Mire v2.1, by Lord Tanthos
_______________________________________________
The Dark Mire sits at the remote edge of Transylvania's western border. It is really a spoiled, sludge-filled river and not a swamp. But, due to its very swamp-like appearance it is passed off as a mire.
The land around it is darkened with the presence of the evil pervading it, and is poisoned by this vile river. Plenty of tar can be procured from the river, and stone and other resources can be obtained. Thankfully, it is not too hostile to farm anything worth eating, however the food is not likely to be very good-tasting.
Regardless, as an important site on the borderlands, and an easy crossing from the rest of Europe into Transylvania, Vlad is determined to establish a border guard here. He has built a keep, established the beginnings of a small village to the north, and is now prepared to fortify the area.
The Dark Mire shall be his!

Thank you for downloading "Dark Mire," a freebuild map. This is a revised version of the pre-built castle I submitted for the small-map freebuild contest of the TLK clan. It won as the first place Evil entry.
I am now releasing it to the other players on the site, and I hope they can enjoy it and the poisoned landscape.
An especially notable point on the map is the dreadful Cover of Darkness, a fearful statue that emanates a shroud of blackness from itself, highly responsible for the dim light in this area.
Also of note is the old ruins of St. Crispian's Church. A nearby dragon roosts upriver from this ruin, and will be instrumental in controlling the crossing, for either side.
Some fragments of roads created years ago in the time of Rome can still be detected in some places, but for the most part, this place is dead, corrupted, and overgrown with twisted plants.
Enjoy your stay in the lowest property value area on the planet!
