This map is played in a siege mode. There is no castle building, simply organizing your army and attacking--or defending--an ancient fort on Ghiel's Ridge.
Alfred the Great is marching an army to Ghiel's Ridge. This ancient rise overlooks the Norweigan Sea from the west side of England's coasts. An old fort stands by the edge of the cliffs, overgrown with trees, bushes, and grasses. All up and down the rise are wild plants, rocks, grasses, and fungi, undisturbed for centuries. But now Sir Lancelot and his army is here, but not to enjoy the scenery.
For Alfred the Great is near, and he has slain every knight of the Round Table except for Sir Lancelot. Sir Lancelot's army forms up in front of the old fort, pouring pitch at places on the hillside, and setting up rolling logs on the slope. Alfred will ask no quarter, and neither will Lancelot.
You may either take the place of Lancelot (Defending) or Alfred (Attacking) and try to win the battle for either side. This short siege mission will set the stage for a future Legends campaign which I will begin working on in the coming summer.
Notes:
This is simply meant to be a short mission setup akin to SH2 sieges. Please rate accordingly.
The rolling logs are useable even though they are in the ground! Simply use them as you would a wall-mounted one.
Alfred's army in the defense mode will take different routes and strategies on nearly every game, adding to the replayablity.
Attacking Lancelot's fort has more than 6 different strategies to win, also adding to the replayablitity.
Playability: 4.5
VERY fun to play but I didn't like the defense one much.
Balance: 3.5
It was a bit over hard even though I finished the attacking mission, it was hard. It was unbalanced in defense though, the enemy came with over 200 troops!
Creativity: 4.5
Creative especially in the map design.
Map Design: 5
This rocks man! Both the detail, and the design was great also the shade was good.
Story/Instructions: 4
Good, not bad, just didn't want to give a low score.
Additional Comments: Was good, although the defending mission wasn't. First of all we couldn't build anything, next the enemy came with 2 invasions not one. Also the attacking one wasn't easy, I cheated my way to victory by deleting the hovels and that way I got a +6 popularity and I started getting a lot of taxes so I could build more units. Overall it was good.
